Award-winning Research and Teaching Excellence

Our faculty have a strong record of excellence in research and scholarly teaching.  From 2014-2019, 50% of our tenure-stream faculty have received significant recognition for their scholarship and scholarly teaching earning national or international professional association awards, distinguished fellowships, or major university or college awards.

Our faculty members  have earned prestigious disciplinary awards for their research including the International Communication Association Fellow, the National Communication Association Gerald M. Phillips Award for Distinguished Applied Communication Research, the George L. Engel Award from the Academy of Communication in Healthcare, the National Association for Media Literacy Outstanding Research Award, and the Pathfinder Award from the Institute of Public Relations.  Our faulty members have earned some of the highest honors at A&M in recognition for their research including the Presidential Impact Fellow, Cornerstone Fellow, the Ray A. Rothrock Research Fellow, Arts & Humanities Fellows, as well as endowed professorships.  When you also consider that our faculty occupy positions as editors, editorial board members, and book series editors for leading journals and book presses in and outside the communication discipline, we have a faculty group that demonstrates a strong commitment to advancing scholarship in the discipline

Our faculty have a keen interest in taking their research knowledge and applying it into the classroom.  They have earned numerous awards for scholarly teaching.  Our faculty have earned important teaching awards from national professional associations such as the National Communication Association’s Donald H.  Ecroyd Award for Outstanding Teaching in Higher Education as well as numerous Texas A&M teaching awards such as the Center of Teaching Excellence Aggies Celebrate Teaching—Transformational Learning Award, the Montague Center for Teaching Excellence Scholar Award, and the Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Award.
