How to schedule an appointment

Current Texas A&M students wishing to change majors: If you are interested in changing your major to COMM, TCMS, or USLA-JNS, please sign up to attend a virtual Change of Major meeting. This is a group advising session, approximately one hour long, not a regular appointment. Please wait to make an appointment until after you have attended a meeting.

Prospective students: go to our Prospective Student page and request a Prospective Student meeting.  You may fill out the google form or call our office to schedule a meeting.  Please do not schedule a regular advising appointment.

Current COMM, TCMS, and USLA-JRN majors and COMM and JOUR minors: How to Schedule an Appointment or drop-in virtually for video advising.  We offer virtual and in-person appointments through Navigate. 

To schedule an advising appointment:

  1. Log onto Howdy
  2. Click on the My Record tab
  3. Click Advising Appointments
  4. Click Navigate – Schedule Advising Appointments
  5. Click Advising Texas A&M University
  6. Find your college/location – College of Arts & Sciences
  7. Choose the most relevant reason for your visit (such as AT – General Advising)
  8. Choose our department center, AT – COMM TCMS JOUR, then choose a date and time for your visit
  9. Please include comments on the nature of your visit and choose the advisor you’d like to speak to
  10. Proceed to choose a Date and Time that is best for you with advisor availability in mind
  11. Click Confirm Appointment

NOTE: If you are unable to find  “AT – COMM TCMS JOUR”, it is because we are completely booked for the next 14 calendar days, but it is rolling each day.  Please continue to check regularly each day for available time slots, or attend drop-in advising at times listed below.

Upcoming Drop-In Advising

Drop-in advising is available for students without an appointment, first come, first served. Our department is offering drop-in advising at the following times:

Mondays, 1:30pm to 4:00pm

Wednesdays, 1:30pm to 4:00pm

DEGREE PLANNER WORKSHOPS FOR SPRING SEMESTER 2024

Please join the CMJR Advising Staff for one of the Spring 2024 Semester Degree Planner Workshops beginning in the month of March! You’ll learn valuable tips about the Do’s and Don’ts of how to build a proper degree planner and learn ways to increase your chances of being approved the first time😊 Remember that Degree Planner Holds WILL PREVENT YOU FROM REGISTERING FOR CLASSES and are required by the State of Texas. So please join us so we can give you the assistance that you may need!
