Dr. David Tarvin received his Ph.D. in Communication from Louisiana State University in 2007. He joined the Communication Department at Texas A&M University as a Lecturer in 2014, and teaches undergraduate courses in intercultural communication, rhetoric, humor, and public speaking. Dr. Tarvin’s academic interests focus on high-impact practices that enhance the undergraduate experience. He leads an international field trip to Costa Rica to enhance the intercultural communication course, and developed a rhetoric of humor course for a semester abroad in Italy. He was the keynote speaker at the Applied and Therapeutic Humor Conference in 2019, where he addressed using humor in the classroom. Dr. Tarvin serves on the Communication Honors Committee and is the editor for the Comm Honors Newsletter. In 2019, Dr. Tarvin joined the Faculty Senate to serve on the Legislative Committee and Honors and Undergraduate Research Advisory Council, and joined the Internationalization Committee in the Communication Department.
