Bio

Juliet Letteney is a Ph.D. student and instructor in the Department of Communication & Journalism. She is interested in advocating for cultural movements aimed at destigmatizing dialogues of sexual health, as well as interpreting what can be gleaned from Asian identity creations, particularly found in public forms, media, and places of remembrance. She is driven by a desire to support and understand movements led by women for the safety, health, and happiness of women in society and deconstructing dominant narratives about Asian-ness and acts of violence committed against Asian communities.

Juliet received her B.S. in Psychology (2016), B.A. in Communication Studies (2016), and M.A. in Communication Studies (2022) all from Colorado State University. She is building from previous research done in her M.A. program that focused on the various metaphors for Korean national identity and attitudes toward unification found at the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea.

She is here to advance a career in communication studies within higher education teaching and research in order to promote empowering and anti-racist dialogues.
