Note: there are two inventories included here. The first was taken in St. Mary’s County in Jamaica; the second was taken in Orgill’s Port Royal residence


An Inventory and appraisement of all and singular the goods & Chattells Rights and Creditts of Andrew Orgill Son _____ [executor] Late of the pish of St. Maryes in the Island of Jamaica as they where showne unto us by Andrew Orgill his sole ______ [executor] in the Island

And first in said Parish of St. Marys as following

Six White Servants by name as followeth

John Holt having 3 years 3 monthes to serve att 12 pound valued att
Six pounds to the halfe belonging to the Deceased ie

Roger Strong three yeares 9 months for the Customs of the Country
the halfe ie

Phillip Montlacke 2 yeares 5 months in servise six pounds for
the halfe ie

Christopher Gibbons a Boy to serve by Indenture 10 years had
9 yeares 2 months to serve & to have six pounds at ye experation
of his time valued at eight pounds ye the halfe belonging to the
Deceased ie

John Spring a boy had 2 yeares 3 months to serve & to have 5 att
the Experation of his time value att 5 pounds ye the halfe ie

George Marsh a boy 6 yeares & eight months to serve at ffive pounds
ye the halfe ie

fforty man Negroes & 25 woman Negroes valued as one with the
other at 17 pounds phe__d ie in the wholl 1105 pounds to ye halfe belonging to the Deceased

Three Negroe Boyes valued att thirty pounds ye halfe ie

Twelve Negroe picanineis or childerens from 8 yeares to nine monthes valued at together

Seaven Mules att 56 pounds the halfe ie
fifteene horses, and one Mare at 80 pounds the halfe ie

In Obediense to the Right Honorable Hender Molesworth ___ [esquire] Lt Govnor and Commander and Chief of his Majties Island of Jamaica wee have according to our skills and judgements appraised the foregoing Inventory amounting unto One Thousand One Hundred & Sixteene pounds 8 shillings and two pense as witness our hands and sealed ye day & yeare first above written
